Nicaragua 2019 - College

This trip is for college students 18-23 years old. We will be traveling to Managua, Nicaragua for a week of service. The team will work alongside our mission partners, Chris & Krista Farrington. The team will work on a community development project such as painting classrooms, cleaning school grounds, rebuilding a fence around the school garden, or assembling school playground equipment. 

Other team activities will include attending a Nicaraguan church service, spending quality time with boys and girls from two rescue homes, spending a day at a ranch for sports and water fun, and visiting a market for souvenir shopping. Additional day trips may include a visit to a volcano and a local zoo. Most importantly, there will be opportunities for personal spiritual growth, relationship development among team members, meaningful devotional and worship time, and quiet times for reflection and prayer.  

Trip Costs:

• $1400 per person
• Cost covers airfare, ground transportation, meals, accommodations, taxes, tariffs & fees, team shirt, travel insurance, devotional journal.
• Team members are responsible for their own spending money for snacks or souvenirs.

Discount: A $300 discount will be applied to the trip cost if the team member's application is received by March 15 and will be applied to the final payment.

Deposit: Upon acceptance onto the team, a $250 deposit is due and can be paid using the credit card on file with this application or by a check made out to Christ Journey Church. Please notify the Missions Office with your preference, otherwise your credit card will be charged $250 upon acceptance. The deposit serves to solidify your commitment to the trip and the team.

Requirements:
- Passport expiration must be valid for six months past the planned date of trip
- Must have a current background check completed and on file with Christ Journey Church
- Serve as a volunteer at Christ Journey Church or in the community
- Attend all team meetings and participate in team fundraising events

Immunizations: All team members are to make their own decisions regarding immunizations and medicines for in-country travel based on the CDC recommendations and consultation with a primary care or international travel physician. Immunization expenses are the responsibility of the team member.

Financial Responsibilty: Acceptance onto the team requires an immediate $250 deposit with the credit card on file or by check given to the Missions Office within one week of being accepted onto the team. ALL financial obligations for the trip are the responsibility of the team member. Failure to meet financial deadlines may result in forfeiting your position on the trip. Any surplus over and above the required amount cannot be returned to the donor/participant or redirected to pay for other items. Once flights are purchased, that money has been spent and cannot be reallocated in any way.

Donations: Any monetary donations designated for a team member are considered charitable and tax-deductible as allowed by the IRS and are non-refundable. Christ Journey Church has complete discretion and control over the use of all donated funds, and reserves the right to redirect funds designated for the trip to the Missions ministry budget.

Special Note: If the number of applications for this trip exceeds the number of available spaces, then priority will be given to Christ Journey Church members and then to Christ Journey attendees. Applicants who are not members of or who do not attend Christ Journey Church will be considered on a case-by-case basis and only if there is space available. Christ Journey Missions Office reserves the right to accept or not accept team members.
